Founded in 1878, Grimsby Town are one of England's oldest football clubs. Based at Blundell Park in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, the Mariners have spent the majority of their history playing in the lower tiers of the EFL. Their most recent spell in England's top division took place in the 1930s and came to an end in 1948, shortly after football resumed following World War II.

The club's traditional colours are black and white, and since the 1910s the team have normally worn a black and white home kit with vertical stripes.
